On February 2, the Aquarium of the Pacific held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Pacific Visions wing. The first major expansion project ever undertaken by the nonprofit aquarium, Pacific Visions, slated to open in late 2018/early 2019, will be the new focal point of the institution and will engage the public with epic ocean stories and inspire them to create a better future for our planet.
“Pacific Visions will allow us to enhance our visitor experience with immersive experiences, additional live animal exhibits and designated spaces to engage with ocean science in unexpected ways from performing arts to visual arts, in addition to increasing our audience capacity to approximately 2 million visitors per year,” the Aquarium’s executive director Dr. Jerry Schubel told Andrew Edwards with Press-Telegram.
Cortina Productions is proud to be working with the Aquarium of the Pacific, Clark Construction, and the architecture and design firm EHDD in the creation of this new expansion. Pacific Visions will incorporate a range of technologies that will create rich, dynamic, relevant multi-sensory, multi-dimensional experiences making it a space where science, art, and nature can blend in a fluid, intuitive way for innovative learning.
Founding partner, Joseph Cortina, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony as a speaker.
