Four Cortina Productions' Projects Receive MUSE Awards

Cortina Productions is excited to announce the receipt of four MUSE Awards at the American Alliance of Museums’ 2017 Annual Conference. The Media and Technology MUSE Awards recognize outstanding achievement in museum media. Selected by an international group of industry professionals, the awards celebrate scholarship, community, innovation, creativity, education, and inclusiveness.  Categories range from interactive kiosks to film and computer animation and offer four award levels: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention.

In collaboration with the dedicated and talented teams at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Aquarium of the Pacific, and the Richard Nixon Presidential Library; Cortina is honored to have been a part of these award-winning projects.

Liberty Fever – American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

“Liberty Fever” is the introductory film at the new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Intended to evoke an emotional connection with characters living during the American Revolution, this dynamic film juxtaposes live-action film segments alongside moving panoramas popular during the American Revolution. Through these personal accounts, viewers watch the spread of ‘liberty fever’ unfold before them. From change and choice to battle and legacy, themes presented in the film are designed to reflect key messages in the new galleries.

Follow the Green Book – Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture

Housed in the second floor Explore More! gallery at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, “Follow the Green Book” takes up to four visitors on a journey from Illinois to Alabama. Through the guidance of the African American community’s network of traveling resources and The Negro Motorist Green Book visitors are able to discuss and make joint decisions as they experience scenes that reveal the segregated landscape of the Jim Crow America from the perspective of the African-American traveler.

Pacific Visions Promo – Aquarium of the Pacific

Bronze MUSE Award in Public Outreach

Utilizing beautiful nature footage and original live-action production, the “Pacific Visions Promo” showcases the state-of-the-art design for a dynamic new addition to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. Released online on March 17, 2016 with the official announcement of the master plans for Pacific Visions, this short promo is considered to be the best resource for telling the exhibit’s story.

Scheduled to open in early 2019, Pacific Visions will span two stories and 29,000 square feet. It will include an immersive theater, special exhibitions and art galleries, and new animal exhibits.

Nixon – Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum

Honorable Mention in Video, Film and Computer Animation

“Nixon” is the signature film experience of the newly renovated Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California. The film inspires visitors to see Richard Nixon, the man, in new and unexpected ways by fusing anecdotal storytelling, archival imagery, and historic events. Featuring 10 original interviews with authors and historians, as well as members of the Nixon administration and family, the film also introduces visitors to the topics and events they will encounter as they continue on through the museum.
